Patina pools to the warmth of attention.
Polished walnut oxidizes into ancient turquoise where your cursor lingers. Click to send a brass-edged ripple across the metal.
A backgammon set for the heirs of Isfahan.
Each wallpaper draws its palette from Isfahan tilework. They drift on their own, gather toward your cursor, and ripple when you click. Tactile by design — fidget without guilt.
Polished walnut oxidizes into ancient turquoise where your cursor lingers. Click to send a brass-edged ripple across the metal.
A grid of ten-pointed khatam rosettes drawn in brass. Stars near your cursor unfurl and shift to firuzeh; clicks dissolve a star and let it reform.
Caustic streaks drift across a deep cobalt pool. Your cursor lenses the surface; clicks drop a stone and ring out.
Pomegranate seeds drift across plaster. Your cursor is a gravity well — they orbit, gather, and slip past. Click to scatter the cluster; they reflock on their own.
Volumetric smoke drifts across a plaster wall. Where your cursor passes, the smoke parts and a hidden girih lattice glows through in gold.
Each surface in the app is built the way the wallpapers are — patiently, in service of the game beneath.
A 24-point board in deep walnut with khatam inlay corners, lapis and firuzeh points, and ivory checkers carved with eight-point rosettes.
Four AI bands, each a step toward worthy. Beginner forgives, Grandmaster does not. Match lengths from one game to seven.
A proper doubling cube — engraved, weighty, easy to ignore for casual play. Turn it on when stakes call for it.
Editorial typography throughout. Subtle haptics on roll and bear-off. No badges, no streaks, no shouting — just the game.

Backgammon is called takhteh nard (تخته نرد) in Persian — literally "the board of nard." Takhteh means "the board." The game traces back several thousand years to the Iranian plateau; this app is a small tribute to that lineage.
Each is a small WebGL fragment shader, hand-tuned in the Takhteh palette. Move your cursor or tap on a touch device. Only the wallpaper currently on screen runs at full speed; the rest pause politely. If you have prefers-reduced-motion enabled, they hold a still pose drawn from the same palette.
